A Gospel Message of Hope for the Ember Months

Welcome to the last month of the third quarter of 2025—the beginning of the Ember months! This period, often marked by reflection, anticipation, and a rush to meet yearly goals, can be filled with both excitement and anxiety. But into this season, the Gospel speaks a powerful word: Hope.

This hope is not a vague wish or a blind optimism that things will simply get better. It is a confident, expectant, and certain assurance rooted in the unchanging character of God and the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Perhaps the year has unfolded exactly as you dreamed. Praise God! This hope is your sustenance, a reminder that every good gift comes from the Father of lights (James 1:17). Perhaps the year has been fraught with challenges, disappointments, or losses. This hope is your anchor, firm and secure, thrown into the very throne room of heaven (Hebrews 6:19). It holds you fast when the storms of life rage.

The world offers hope based on circumstances—if the economy is good, if your health holds, if people act right. But the hope of the Gospel is built on a foundation that cannot be shaken: the relentless, pursuing, and redeeming love of God demonstrated through Jesus.

• In Christ, your past is forgiven. The mistakes of the first three quarters do not define you. His blood has cleansed you. You are not who you used to be; you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17).

• In Christ, your present is secure. You are not alone in this Ember month. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you (Hebrews 13:5). His grace is sufficient for you, for His power is made perfect in your weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9).

• In Christ, your future is guaranteed. The ending of a quarter or a year is not the end of your story. He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion (Philippians 1:6). His plans for you are for prosperity, not disaster—plans to give you a future filled with hope (Jeremiah 29:11).

Therefore, step into this last month of the third quarter not with fear, but with faith. Step into the Ember months not with dread, but with divine expectation. Let the fire of the Holy Spirit ignite your passion, purify your desires, and light your path. The same God who has brought you through January to September is more than able to crown your year with His bounty (Psalm 65:11).

Your hope is not in the economy, your job, your connections, or even your own strength. Your hope is in the Lord—the Maker of heaven and earth. And those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint (Isaiah 40:31).
