MATTHEW 16:20-26
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
21 From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.
22 Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.
23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.
24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
25 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

LUKE 9:23-24
23 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.
24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

Prayer Points (KJV-Inspired)

1. O Lord, deliver me from a carnal mind that rebuketh thy will, as Peter did. Let me savour the things that be of God, and not the things that be of men (Matthew 16:23).

2. I pray for grace to deny myself daily; to crucify my flesh with its affections and lusts, that I may be a true follower of Christ (Matthew 16:24, Luke 9:23).

3. Grant me strength, O Lord, to take up my cross and bear it without complaint. Let me not shun the path of sacrifice which thou hast appointed for me.

4. Order my steps in thy word, that I may follow thee whithersoever thou goest. Let not my heart turn back in the day of battle (Matthew 16:24).

5. Heavenly Father, open mine eyes to the vanity of this world. What shall it profit a man if he gain the whole world and lose his own soul? Let this truth be sealed upon my heart (Matthew 16:26).

6. I choose this day to lose my life for thy sake, believing thy promise that in losing it, I shall find it unto life eternal (Matthew 16:25, Luke 9:24).

7. Let this mind be in my household and I, that we may count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus our Lord.

Declarations (KJV-Inspired)

1. I DECLARE this day that I am a disciple of Jesus. I deny myself, I take up my cross daily, and I follow Him (Luke 9:23).

2. I DECLARE that I am not offended by the cross of Christ, nor by the cross I am called to bear. I savour the things of God, and my mind is stayed on thy Spirit.

3. I DECLARE that my old life is lost for Christ’s sake; therefore, I have found true life, both now and in the world to come (Matthew 16:25).

4. I DECLARE that my soul is of more value than all the world. I shall not be profited by earthly gain if it means the loss of my eternal inheritance (Matthew 16:26).

5. I DECLARE that the enemy, who speaks through the voice of fleshly reasoning, is put behind me. I hearken unto the voice of my Lord alone (Matthew 16:23).

6. I DECLARE that as I follow Christ in full surrender, my life is preserved, my path is directed, and my soul is saved.

7. I DECLARE that the power of resurrection which raised Christ from the dead is at work in me, enabling me to die to self and live unto God.
