Basic Scripture for 20 November 2025: Luke 1:57-65 (KJV)

57 Now Elisabeth’s full time came that she should be delivered; and she brought forth a son.
58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.
59 And it came to pass, that on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child; and they called him Zacharias, after the name of his father.
60 And his mother answered and said, Not so; but he shall be called John.
61 And they said unto her, There is none of thy kindred that is called by this name.
62 And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called.
63 And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.
64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake, and praised God.
65 And fear came on all that dwelt round about them: and all these sayings were noised abroad throughout all the hill country of Judaea. Basic Scripture for 20 November 2025 Prayer Points and Declarations

The Power of Obedience and the End of Silence

This passage marks the glorious fulfillment of God’s promise to Zechariah and Elizabeth. The birth of John breaks a season of barrenness and personal silence. The key moment is the obedience to God’s command, against cultural tradition, to name the child John (which means “The Lord is Gracious”). Zechariah’s act of faith in writing “His name is John” instantly breaks the bondage of his muteness. His first words are not of complaint, but of praise to God. This story teaches us that obedience to God’s specific word releases His power, ends our spiritual silence, and inspires awe and wonder in those around us.

Prayer Points

  1. PRAYER FOR THE FULFILLMENT OF GOD’S PROMISE:

    • Faithful God, just as You fulfilled the full time for Elizabeth, I pray You bring to full term every promise You have made over my life and family. Let Your word be delivered perfectly in my life. In Jesus’ name.

  2. PRAYER TO EXPERIENCE GOD’S GREAT MERCY:

    • Lord, show forth Your great mercy in every area of my life that feels barren, delayed, or hopeless. Let my situation become a testimony of Your kindness that causes others to rejoice. In Jesus’ name.

  3. PRAYER FOR THE COURAGE TO OBEY:

    • Heavenly Father, give me the courage of Zechariah and Elizabeth to obey Your word, even when it goes against tradition, logic, or family pressure. Where You say “John,” let me not settle for “Zacharias.” In Jesus’ name.

  4. PRAYER FOR A LOOSED TONGUE:

    • Lord, break every spirit of silence and muteness in my life. Loose my tongue to speak forth Your word and to praise Your name boldly. May my first response to Your faithfulness be a sacrifice of praise. In Jesus’ name.

  5. PRAYER FOR DIVINE AWE AND WONDER:

    • Holy Spirit, let Your works in my life be so undeniable that awe and reverence for You fall upon my community. Let my testimony noised abroad bring glory to Your name. In Jesus’ name.

  6. PRAYER TO CARRY A GOD-GIVEN IDENTITY:

    • Father, I reject every label that is not from You. I embrace the identity and destiny You have named for me. Help me to walk fully in the purpose for which I was created. In Jesus’ name. Basic Scripture for 20 November 2025 Prayer Points and Declarations
