Basic Scriptures for 21 November 2025

2 Timothy 2:1–7 (NKJV)
1 You therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
2 And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.
3 You therefore must endure hardship as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
4 No one engaged in warfare entangles himself with the affairs of this life, that he may please him who enlisted him as a soldier.
5 And also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules.
6 The hardworking farmer must be first to partake of the crops.
7 Consider what I say, and may the Lord give you understanding in all things.

Matthew 10:28–30 (NKJV)
28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
29 Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will.
30 But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

The Call to Courageous and Focused Discipleship

Today’s scriptures provide a powerful, two-part charge for every believer. In 2 Timothy, Paul uses three vivid metaphors—the Soldier, the Athlete, and the Farmer—to illustrate a life of discipline, focus, and endurance for the sake of the Gospel. This call to resilience is then fortified by Jesus’ words in Matthew, which root our courage not in our own strength, but in the sovereign care of our Father. We are empowered to be fearless soldiers because we are eternally valued and meticulously watched over by God. Our mission is demanding, but our Master is dependable.

  2. PRAYER FOR FAITHFUL MULTIPLICATION:

    • Lord, make me a faithful reproducer of Your truth. Help me to identify, disciple, and entrust the Gospel to faithful men and women who will then teach others, ensuring a lasting legacy of faith. In Jesus’ name.

  3. PRAYER FOR A SOLDIER’S FOCUS:

    • Holy Spirit, reveal to me any “civilian affairs” that are entangling me and distracting me from my primary mission to please you. Give me the focus of a dedicated soldier to cut away every distraction. In Jesus’ name.
