BASIC SCRIPTURES: MICAH 7:1-7; PROVERBS 4:7; 13:3

Basic Scriptures for 22 November 2025

Micah 7:1-7 (NKJV)
1 Woe is me! For I am like those who gather summer fruits, Like those who glean vintage grapes; There is no cluster to eat Of the first-ripe fruit which my soul desires.
2 The faithful man has perished from the earth, And there is no one upright among men. They all lie in wait for blood; Every man hunts his brother with a net.
3 That they may successfully do evil with both hands— The prince asks for gifts, The judge seeks a bribe, And the great man utters his evil desire; So they scheme together.
4 The best of them is like a brier; The most upright is sharper than a thorn hedge; The day of your watchman and your punishment comes; Now shall be their perplexity.
5 Do not trust in a friend; Do not put your confidence in a companion; Guard the doors of your mouth From her who lies in your bosom.
6 For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man’s enemies are the men of his own household.
7 Therefore I will look to the Lord; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.

Proverbs 4:7 (NKJV)
7 Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.

Proverbs 13:3 (NKJV)
3 He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

Anchoring Your Soul in a Time of Moral Decay

Today’s scriptures paint a stark picture of societal breakdown, where trust is broken, corruption is rampant, and even family bonds are fractured (Micah 7:1-6). In the midst of this bleak landscape, the prophet Micah provides the only sure anchor: “Therefore I will look to the Lord…” (v.7). This deliberate shift in focus is our key to survival. This is fortified by the wisdom of Proverbs: in a world of confusion, we must pursue God’s wisdom above all else (Prov. 4:7), and in an age of reckless words, we must exercise disciplined speech to preserve our lives and peace (Prov. 13:3).

Prayer Points

  1. PRAYER FOR A HOPE-FILLED FOCUS:

    • Heavenly Father, in a world filled with bad news, corruption, and broken trust, I choose, like Micah, to look to You. I fix my eyes on You, the Author and Finisher of my faith, and I wait confidently for You, the God of my salvation. In Jesus’ name.

  2. PRAYER FOR ULTIMATE WISDOM:

    • Lord, Your Word says wisdom is the principal thing. I ask for and receive Your divine wisdom today. Grant me understanding to navigate complex relationships, make righteous decisions, and see situations from Your heavenly perspective. In Jesus’ name.

  3. PRAYER FOR A GUARDED MOUTH:

    • Holy Spirit, be the gatekeeper of my lips. Help me to guard my mouth from gossip, complaining, harsh words, and rash promises. Let my speech be gracious, life-giving, and preserving, especially when I am under pressure. In Jesus’ name.

  4. PRAYER FOR DISCERNMENT IN RELATIONSHIPS:

    • Father, give me discernment in all my relationships. Where trust has been broken, guide me. Protect me from the schemes of the unfaithful, and teach me to place my ultimate confidence in You alone. In Jesus’ name.

  5. PRAYER FOR UNWAVERING FAITH IN GOD’S JUSTICE:

    • Righteous Judge, I thank You that You see all the injustice and corruption. I release every situation of unfairness into Your hands. I declare that You are my vindicator, and my God will hear me when I cry. In Jesus’ name.

  6. PRAYER FOR THE STRENGTH TO BE UPRIGHT:

    • Lord, in a world where the upright are scarce, empower me by Your Spirit to live a life of integrity and holiness. Make me a beacon of Your faithfulness and truth in my family and community. In Jesus’ name.
