BASIC SCRIPTURE: JUDGES 16:10-20 KJV

Basic Scripture for 27 October 2025

JUDGES 16:10-20 (KJV)

10 And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.
11 And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.
12 Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.
13 And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.
14 And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.
15 And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.
16 And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;
17 That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.
18 And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.
19 And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.
20 And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

Prayer Points

  1. Prayer for Spiritual Discernment:

    • Lord, open my eyes to see the “Delilahs” in my life—the persistent temptations, compromising relationships, and sinful habits that seek to drain my spiritual strength. Give me the wisdom to recognize and flee from them.

  2. Prayer Against the Spirit of Complacency:

    • Father, deliver me from the deception that I can play with sin and remain strong. Like Samson, I awaken and think, “I will go out as at other times.” Break this complacency in me and keep me alert to the enemy’s schemes.

  3. Prayer for the Preservation of Your Consecration:

    • Heavenly Father, You have set me apart for Your purpose. I pray over the source of my strength—my relationship with You. Guard my heart, my mind, and my spirit. Let no “razor” of worldliness, deceit, or disobedience cut off my consecration.

  4. Prayer Against Persistent Pressure:

    • Lord, my soul is often vexed by the constant pressures of life, people, and the enemy. I receive Your grace to stand firm. When I am weary and my resolve is weak, be my strength and my fortress. Let Your Word be my anchor.

  5. Prayer for Sensitivity to the Holy Spirit:

    • The most tragic part of this story is, “He wist not that the LORD was departed from him.” Holy Spirit, make me acutely sensitive to Your presence. If I begin to drift, send a clear conviction to my spirit. I never want to operate in my own strength, unaware that You have departed.

Declarations

  1. I declare that I am spiritually alert and discerning. I will not be deceived by the repetitive lies of the enemy. I expose every trap set for my life and I walk in victory through Christ Jesus.

  2. I declare that my strength is in my covenant relationship with God. I guard the secrets of my strength—my prayer life, my study of the Word, and my obedience to God’s voice. My consecration is non-negotiable.

  3. I declare that I am free from every Delilah spirit—every person, habit, or desire that seeks to weaken me and hand me over to my enemies. I cut every ungodly soul tie in the name of Jesus.

  4. I declare that the Lord is with me. I am sensitive to the moving of the Holy Spirit. I will not operate in presumptuous strength, but in God-dependent humility. I know when God is with me, and I quickly repent when I grieve His Spirit.

  5. I declare that my final victory is secured in Christ. Even in my weakness, God’s grace is sufficient for me, and His power is made perfect. My story, like Samson’s, will ultimately bring glory to God.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
