BASIC SCRIPTURE: JOHN 20:11-18

Basic Scripture: John 20:11-18 (NKJV)

11 But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept, she stooped down and looked into the tomb.
12 And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain.
13 Then they said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping?” She said to them, “Because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him.”
14 Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus.
15 Jesus said to her, “Woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking?” She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him, “Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away.”
16 Jesus said to her, “Mary!” She turned and said to Him, “Rabboni!” (which is to say, Teacher).
17 Jesus said to her, “Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.’”
18 Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples that she had seen the Lord, and that He had spoken these things to her.

Prayer Points and Declarations

1. Prayer Point for Turning from Weeping to Seeing

  • Prayer: O Lord, like Mary at the tomb, there are situations in my life that have caused me great weeping and confusion. I pray today that You would turn me around from my state of grief. Open my spiritual eyes to see Jesus standing right there in the middle of my situation, even when I haven’t recognized Him.

  • Declaration: I declare that I am not defined by my tears or my losses. Today, I turn from focusing on the empty tomb of my disappointments and I see the risen Christ with me. My season of weeping is ending, and my season of revelation begins now.

2. Prayer Point for Hearing Jesus Call Your Name

  • Prayer: Heavenly Father, in the noise of my fears, doubts, and sorrows, quiet my heart. Let me hear the personal, loving call of my Savior, Jesus, calling me by my name. Let that single word dissolve all my confusion and replace it with intimate recognition and faith.

  • Declaration: I declare that I know my Shepherd’s voice, and I hear Him call me by name. I respond to Him today with a cry of faith, “Rabboni! My Teacher and Lord!” My identity is secure in His knowing me.

3. Prayer Point for Releasing the Old to Embrace the New

  • Prayer: Lord Jesus, You told Mary, “Do not cling to Me,” signaling a new way of relating to You. I release my grip on past blessings, old methods, and former ways of encountering You. I refuse to cling to a “Jesus of the past.” I ask for a fresh, powerful revelation of You as the ascended, all-powerful King.

  • Declaration: I declare that I let go of the old to embrace the new thing God is doing. I will not cling to the familiar out of fear. I am moving forward into a higher, spirit-led relationship with my living God.

4. Prayer Point for a Commissioning Message

  • Prayer: Father, You gave Mary a message and a mission: “Go to My brethren and say…” Anoint me with the same commissioning spirit. Place a specific message of hope, resurrection, and ascension in my mouth. Use me to declare to my family, friends, and community the living truth of Christ.

  • Declaration: I declare that I am not just a spectator of miracles; I am a messenger of the Gospel. I have a word from the Lord to share. I am a commissioned ambassador, announcing that Jesus is alive and we have a Father in Heaven.

5. Prayer Point for the Revelation of Our Relationship with God

  • Prayer: Thank You, Jesus, for the profound revelation You gave: “I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.” I receive this truth deep into my spirit today. I pray for a fresh understanding that because of Your resurrection, I am not an orphan but a beloved child of God.

  • Declaration: I declare that God is MY Father. He is not distant or angry with me. Through Christ, I have a familial, intimate relationship with the Almighty God. I have full rights as a child in His household.

6. Prayer Point for Becoming a Faithful Witness

  • Prayer: Like Mary Magdalene, who became the first evangelist of the resurrection, make me a faithful and bold witness. I pray for the courage and clarity to declare, “I have seen the Lord!” Let my testimony bring faith and salvation to the doubting and the lost.

  • Declaration: I declare that my life is a testimony of the risen Christ. I will not be silent. I will go and tell others what the Lord has done for me and what He can do for them. My story is a tool for His glory.

In Jesus’ Mighty Name, Amen.
