BASIC SCRIPTURE FOR TODAY: FRIDAY, 19TH SEPTEMBER 2025

PHILIPPIANS 3:1-11 (NKJV)

1 Finally, my brethren, rejoice in the Lord. For me to write the same things to you is not tedious, but for you it is safe.
2 Beware of dogs, beware of evil workers, beware of the mutilation!
3 For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the Spirit, rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh,
4 though I also might have confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he may have confidence in the flesh, I more so:
5 circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of the Hebrews; concerning the law, a Pharisee;
6 concerning zeal, persecuting the church; concerning the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
7 But what things were gain to me, these I have counted loss for Christ.
8 Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ
9 and be found in Him, not having my own righteousness, which is from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith;
10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death,
11 if, by any means, I may attain to the resurrection from the dead.

PRAYER POINTS

This passage is a masterclass in shifting our confidence from human achievement to divine relationship.

1. Prayer for a Heart of Authentic Joy:

   • “Heavenly Father, Your Word commands me to ‘rejoice in the Lord.’ I pray against any joy that is dependent on my circumstances. Root my joy deeply in who You are—Your unchanging character, Your finished work on the cross, and Your eternal promises. Let my life be a testament to a secure and steadfast joy that is found in You alone.” (v. 1)

2. Prayer for Discernment Against False Confidence:

   • “Lord, make me acutely aware of the ‘dogs’ and ‘evil workers’ in my own thinking—the temptations to place my confidence in my heritage, my resume, my religious performance, or my zeal. Guard my heart from trusting in the ‘mutilation’ of fleshly effort instead of the finished work of Christ. My confidence is in You and You alone.” (v. 2-3)

3. Prayer for a “Loss and Gain” Mentality:

   • “Father, give me the spiritual clarity of Paul. Help me to honestly evaluate everything I consider a ‘gain’—my achievements, accolades, and privileges—and count them as ‘loss’ when they compete with knowing Christ. Give me the courage to willingly suffer the loss of all things for the surpassing worth of knowing Jesus.” (v. 7-8)

4. Prayer to Receive and Walk in God’s Righteousness:

   • “I renounce any attempt to establish my own righteousness through rule-keeping. I receive, by faith, the perfect righteousness that comes from God and is found only in Christ. Today, I choose to be ‘found in Him,’ clothed in His perfection, fully accepted and loved by the Father.” (v. 9)

5. Prayer for the Deep, Intimate Knowledge of Christ:

   • “God, my deepest cry is to truly know Him. I don’t just want to know about You; I want to know You. I ask to experience the power of His resurrection working in my mortal life today—power over sin, death, and despair. I also surrender to the fellowship of His sufferings, willing to be conformed to His death to self, that I may truly live.” (v. 10-11)

DECLARATIONS

1. I declare that my joy is not circumstantial; it is anchored in the Lord. Therefore, I choose to rejoice today, regardless of what I see or feel, because my God is on the throne and my salvation is secure.

2. I declare that I am part of the true circumcision—I worship God by His Spirit, I glory in Christ Jesus, and I put NO CONFIDENCE in my flesh. My pedigree, my past, and my performance do not define me; Christ in me does.

3. I declare that everything I once valued apart from Christ is now counted as loss and rubbish. I consider it all worthless compared to the infinite, supreme value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. I have made the great exchange: my trash for His treasure.

4. I declare that I am found in Christ. I am not wearing the filthy rags of my own righteousness. I am clothed in the flawless, royal robe of His righteousness, given to me by faith. I am fully accepted and pleasing to God.

5. I declare that I am on a journey to know Him more! I will experience the miraculous, life-giving power of His resurrection in my everyday life. I am not afraid of the path of surrender and conformity to Christ, for it is the path that leads to true life and glory.

In the mighty and authoritative name of Jesus, I pray and declare these things. Amen.
