Daily SCRIPTURE Devotional 1st October 2023 GENESIS 12: 1-8
BASIC SCRIPTURE: GENESIS 12: 1-8
Genesis 12:1-8 (KJV)
1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will show thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
4 So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him, and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.
5 And Abram took Sarai his wife, and Lot his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan; and into the land of Canaan they came.
6 And Abram passed through the land unto the place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite was then in the land.
7 And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will I give this land: and there builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared unto him.
8 And he removed from thence unto a mountain on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent, having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east: and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and called upon the name of the Lord.

Inspiration for 1st October 2023: “Walking in Obedience and Faith”
The story of Abram, later known as Abraham, is a testament to the power of obedience and faith in God’s plan. In Genesis 12:1-8, we see how God called Abram to leave behind his homeland, his kindred, and his father’s house, embarking on a journey into the unknown. This divine call was not without its challenges, but it was accompanied by remarkable promises.
Abram’s obedience to God’s call is a shining example of faith in action. At the age of seventy-five, he, along with his wife Sarai and his nephew Lot, left the comforts of Haran and set out for the land of Canaan. His faith was unwavering, driven by the trust in God’s promises.
In this account, we find inspiration for our own journeys of faith. God often calls us to step out of our comfort zones and embrace new territories. He invites us to trust His guidance and promises, just as Abram did. Like Abram, our obedience to God’s call may lead us into uncharted waters, but it is in these uncharted territories that we often find our true purpose and destiny.
As we begin the month of October, let us reflect on Abram’s story. May it remind us that faith is the anchor that keeps us steady in the midst of uncertainties. Let us walk in obedience and faith, believing that God’s plan for our lives is filled with blessings and purpose. Just as all families of the earth would be blessed through Abram, may your life be a source of blessing to those around you. Trust in God’s promises and journey forth with unwavering faith.
