BASIC SCRIPTURES 29th June 2024 – Prayer Points and Declarations
BASIC SCRIPTURES: MATTHEW 21:1-11; LUKE 23:13-21
Basic Scriptures:
Matthew 21:1-11 (KJV)
1 And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olives, then sent Jesus two disciples,
2 Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose them, and bring them unto me.
3 And if any man say ought unto you, ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straightway he will send them.
4 All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
5 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.
6 And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them,
7 And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon.
8 And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way.
9 And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.
10 And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?
11 And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
Luke 23:13-21 (KJV)
13 And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,
14 Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15 No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
16 I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17 (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18 And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
19 (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)
20 Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21 But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

Reflection:
The passages from Matthew 21:1-11 and Luke 23:13-21 highlight significant events in the life of Jesus that reveal His kingship, the fulfillment of prophecy, and the complexities of human reactions to divine truth. As Jesus entered Jerusalem, the crowds recognized Him as the promised King, while later, the same city demanded His crucifixion. This stark contrast reminds us of the human tendency to vacillate between acceptance and rejection of God’s truth.
In our lives, we are called to recognize Jesus as King and to remain steadfast in our faith despite challenges or opposition. Through prayer and declarations, we align ourselves with God’s will, seek His guidance, and proclaim His truth boldly. Let these prayer points and declarations guide you in your spiritual journey, helping you to grow in faith, wisdom, and obedience to God’s Word.
