MORNING DEVOTIONAL FOR JULY 15, 2025
BASIC SCRIPTURES: MATTHEW 9:18-22 & HEBREWS 11:1-5 (KJV)

SCRIPTURE READING

MATTHEW 9:18-22 (KJV)
18 While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.
19 And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.
20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

HEBREWS 11:1-5 (KJV)
1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
2 For by it the elders obtained a good report.
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

DEEP REFLECTION: THE POWER OF FAITH THAT MOVES GOD

Today’s scriptures present two powerful demonstrations of faith—one from a desperate father and another from a suffering woman. Both teach us that faith is not just a belief; it’s an action that demands God’s response.

1. The Ruler’s Faith: Boldness in Crisis (Matthew 9:18-19)

  • A synagogue ruler (Jairus) came to Jesus, declaring, “My daughter is dead, but lay Your hand on her, and she will live.”

  • Faith speaks before the miracle happens. He didn’t wait for proof; he acted on his belief.

  • Key Lesson: When you face impossible situations, speak faith, not fear.

🔹 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews 11:6 KJV)

2. The Woman’s Faith: Persistent Pursuit (Matthew 9:20-22)

  • A woman with 12 years of incurable bleeding pressed through the crowd to touch Jesus’ garment.

  • She didn’t ask for permission—she took her healing by faith.

  • Key Lesson: Sometimes, your miracle requires desperate, unwavering action.

🔹 “For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.” (Matthew 9:21 KJV)

3. The Substance of Faith (Hebrews 11:1-5)

  • Faith is the title deed to what you hope for (v.1).

  • Abel’s sacrifice and Enoch’s walk with God show that faith pleases God (v.4-5).

  • Key Lesson: True faith obeys, sacrifices, and walks with God even when unseen.

🔹 “By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death… for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God.” (Hebrews 11:5 KJV)

PRAYERS & DECLARATIONS (KJV)

  1. Prayer of Bold Faith:
“Lord, like Jairus, I declare my miracle before I see it! I believe that Your hand upon my situation brings life (Matthew 9:18).”

  2. Prayer of Desperate Pursuit:
“Jesus, I press through every obstacle to touch You. One touch of Your power makes me whole (Matthew 9:21)!”

  3. Declaration of Faith’s Substance:
“My faith is the EVIDENCE of what I cannot yet see. I possess my miracle now by faith (Hebrews 11:1)!”

  4. Prayer to Please God:
“Father, like Enoch, let my life be a testimony that I walk with You in faith (Hebrews 11:5).”

  5. Declaration of Victory:
“By faith, I receive healing, breakthrough, and divine favor today. My faith moves mountains (Mark 11:23)!”

FINAL WORD

Faith is not passive—it speaks, reaches, and obeys. Whether you’re like Jairus (needing a miracle for someone else) or the woman (needing your own breakthrough), ACT ON YOUR FAITH TODAY.

“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23 KJV)

Walk in faith today—your miracle is closer than you think! 🙌🔥
