BASIC SCRIPTURES PROVERBS 14:19-23 13 November 2023
BASIC SCRIPTURES: JAMES 1:22; PROVERBS 14:19-23
James 1:22 (KJV):
“But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.”
Proverbs 14:19-23 (KJV):
“19 The evil bow before the good; and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.
20 The poor is hated even of his own neighbour: but the rich hath many friends.
21 He that despiseth his neighbour sinneth: but he that hath mercy on the poor, happy is he.
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.”
These verses from James emphasize the importance of not just hearing the word but also acting upon it. The Proverbs verses touch on various aspects of righteousness, relationships, and the consequences of one’s actions.

Prayer for the Day: Dear Heavenly Father,
As we begin this day, we come before you with gratitude for the gift of life and the opportunities it brings. We seek your guidance and wisdom to live according to your word.
Help us, Lord, to not only hear your teachings but to apply them in our daily lives. May our actions align with your will, and may we be a reflection of your love and grace to those around us.
In the midst of a world that sometimes seems filled with challenges and uncertainties, grant us the strength to be a source of kindness and compassion. May we be a blessing to our neighbors, showing love to the needy and extending a helping hand to those in despair.
We pray for the discernment to distinguish between good and evil, and the perseverance to choose what is right. Let our hard work be fruitful, and may our words be filled with grace and truth.
Thank you for the promise of your presence with us throughout this day. May we walk in your light, seeking to bring glory to your name.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
