Liturgical Feast: Memorial of Saint John Mary Vianney, Priest
Liturgical Color: White (symbol of purity and priesthood)
🙏 Opening Reflection
Today we celebrate Saint John Vianney, the patron saint of parish priests — a humble man of deep prayer and penitence, who transformed the small town of Ars through radical love, tireless confession ministry, and powerful preaching. His example reminds us of the power of persistent prayer, confession, and loving service, even when we feel insignificant.
Let this new week and new month begin with a fresh desire for holiness, simplicity, and unshakable trust in God’s grace.
“Do not try to please everybody. Try to please God, the angels, and the saints—they are your public.”
— St. John Vianney
📚 Mass Readings for Monday, August 4, 2025
First Reading:
Numbers 11:4b–15 (KJV)
And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.

Responsorial Psalm:
Psalm 81:12-13, 14-15, 16-17
Sing with joy to God our help.
Oh that my people had hearkened unto me, and Israel had walked in my ways!
I should soon have subdued their enemies, and turned my hand against their adversaries.
Gospel Reading:
Matthew 14:13–21 (KJV)
When Jesus heard of it, he departed thence by ship into a desert place apart: and when the people had heard thereof, they followed him on foot out of the cities.
And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick…
And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full.
🙏 Catholic Prayer for the Week (Inspired by St. John Vianney)
Prayer for Holiness, Mercy, and Daily Strength
O God of all compassion and mercy,
As I begin this new week and new month, I surrender my desires, my fears, and my hopes before You.
Like Saint John Vianney, grant me a heart that longs for purity, a spirit that rejoices in humility, and a voice that speaks only kindness.
Strengthen my desire for the sacraments — especially Holy Eucharist and Confession — and set my soul ablaze with love for You.
In every difficulty, grant me patience; in every success, grant me gratitude.
May I never grow weary of prayer, never stop believing in miracles, and never abandon my trust in You.
Through Christ our Lord. Amen. 🙏
St. John Vianney, pray for us.
Sacred Heart of Jesus, have mercy on us.
Immaculate Heart of Mary, be our refuge and our hope.
✝️ Sayings and Catholic Wisdom for the Week
