📖 Readings for Sunday

First Reading: Amos 6:1a, 4-7
Woe to those complacent in Zion, feasting in luxury, while neglecting the needy.

Responsorial Psalm: Psalm 146:7-10
“Praise the Lord, my soul! The Lord gives justice to the oppressed, gives food to the hungry … The Lord shall reign for ever.”

Second Reading: 1 Timothy 6:11-16
“But you, man of God, flee these things (love of money, etc.), and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness … he who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords …”

Alleluia Verse: 2 Corinthians 8:9
“Though our Lord Jesus Christ was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that by his poverty you might become rich.”

Gospel: Luke 16:19-31
The parable of the rich man and Lazarus: the rich man lives in luxury while a poor man Lazarus suffers; after death their fates are reversed and a great chasm is fixed between them.
