Robert Reed said, “I have everything I need for joy.” Yet his hands are twisted and his feet are useless! He can’t bathe himself, he can’t feed himself, and he can’t brush his teeth, comb his hair, or put on his own underwear! His shirts are held together by strips of velcro, and his speech drags like worn-out audio cassettes. Robert has cerebral palsy! The Disease Keeps Him From Driving A Car, Riding A Bike Or Going For A Walk, But It Didn’t Keep Him From Graduating From High School Or Attending Abilene Christian College So He Could Follow God’s Plans For Him To Preach The Gospel. After getting his degree, he taught at St. Louis Junior College in the USA and took 5 mission trips overseas to preach. He then became a missionary in Lisbon, Portugal. There he rented a room and began to study Portuguese. He found a restaurant owner who would feed him after the rush hour and a tutor who would instruct him in the language. Then he stationed himself daily in a park, where he distributed brochures about Christ. Within 6 years, he led 70 people to the Lord, one of whom became his wife, Rosa. When he would speak to audiences, he would be carried up in his wheelchair to the platform, a Bible would be laid on his lap, his stiff fingers would force open the pages, and people would begin to wipe tears from their eyes in admiration. Wow! This is COURAGE and DETERMINATION! Robert never asked for sympathy/pity! He always did just the opposite; he would hold up his bent hand in the air and say: “I have everything I need for joy!” His shirts might be held together with velcro (belt for hooking), but his life is held together with joy! Men like that cannot be stopped by anything, and that is the kind of joy that the Spirit of God wants you to live with in the last days of this year 2024! Refuse depression/self-pity because of DELAYS; rather, think about what God has done, and REJOICE! Meditate on today’s 1st scripture Vs. 5. I SEE JOY COMING! I see great things ahead! Hold on/hold out!!
