TOPIC: The Truth Will Stand (DCLM Daily Manna 21 April 2022)
TEXT: Jeremiah 18:17-23 (KJV)
17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.
18 Then said they, Come and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words. Daily Manna 21 April 2022 DCLM
19 Give heed to me, O Lord, and hearken to the voice of them that contend with me.
20 Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, and to turn away thy wrath from them.
21 Therefore deliver up their children to the famine, and pour out their blood by the force of the sword; and let their wives be bereaved of their children, and be widows; and let their men be put to death; let their young men be slain by the sword in battle.
22 Let a cry be heard from their houses, when thou shalt bring a troop suddenly upon them: for they have digged a pit to take me, and hid snares for my feet.
23 Yet, Lord, thou knowest all their counsel against me to slay me: forgive not their iniquity, neither blot out their sin from thy sight, but let them be overthrown before thee; deal thus with them in the time of thine anger.
KEY VERSE: “Then said they, Come, and let us devise devices against Jeremiah; for the law shall not perish from the priest, nor counsel from the wise, nor the word from the prophet. Come, and let us smite him with the tongue, and let us not give heed to any of his words.” – (Jeremiah 18:18)
DCLM Daily Manna For Today MESSAGE:
Winston Churchill, the wartime British Prime Minister, recognised the prevailing power of the truth even when the natural tendency of man is to oppose and attack it when it is presented from an authentic source. According to him, “The truth is incontrovertible. Malice may attack it, ignorance may deride it, but in the end, there it is.”
Jeremiah faithfully delivered the Lord’s message to the people of Jerusalem and they did not like it. They, therefore, conspired to attack him and frustrate his ministry. They used religious jargon to hide their evil plans to subjugate the priesthood with false prophets and lying priests. Then they would “smite him with the tongue”, slander him with falsehood and create negative stories about him to destroy his public image. They decided they would no longer heed his instructions.
These are the last days and the gospel truth is under intense attack through false teachers, antichrists’ platforms and the media. Satan has raised up his own agents to debunk the holiness message and encourage many to turn away from the truth. True believers must be aware of the tactics of the devil and put on the whole armour of God to stand against all his wiles. Daily Manna 21 April 2022 DCLM
Our prayers, however, must follow Christ’s model when He asked the Father to forgive His enemies for they knew not what they were doing. We should also follow the injunction of Scripture: “Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head. Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good” (Romans 12:20,21).
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: Keep standing for the truth with love.
