TOPIC: THE MARTYRDOM OF PERPETUA AND FELICITY
Basic Scripture for 21 November 2025 Prayer Points and Declarations
In Roman Carthage, 22-year-old Perpetua, a noblewoman, and her enslaved friend, Felicity, faced execution for refusing to renounce Christ. Felicity, pregnant when arrested, gave birth in prison; Perpetua wrote in her diary of visions of spiritual victory. When urged by her father to recant, she replied, “I cannot call myself anything other than what I am: a Christian.” On the day of their martyrdom, Perpetua and Felicity walked into the arena hand in hand, singing hymns! They chose death over compromise! See Felicity’s last words: “Now my suffering is only for Christ; in heaven, it will gain me life.” Their martyrdom is recorded in the book: “The Passion of Saints Perpetua and Felicity.” When you hear powerful tales like these, your spirit is challenged. Jesus said in Revelation 2:10, “…Be faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life.” The call to die is not a call to despair, but to freedom and to surrender it all. Gideon Mark quipped, “In surrender, we discover the weight of glory.” No wonder Apostle Paul said, “For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison” (2 Corinthians 4:17). Your devotion to Christ must never be bought or relinquished at any cost. Hold on and hold out! Remember the deaths of Perpetua and Felicity! Never quit!
