TOPIC: WHY HE FOLDED THE NAPKIN! – 2
BASIC SCRIPTURES: JOHN 20: 7; REVELATION 19: 4-16
Welcome! Another reason the LORD FOLDED the NAPKIN and KEPT IT AT A SAFE DISTANCE FROM THE LINEN was to REMIND YOU OF HIS SECOND COMING! Oh, glory be to God! In order to understand the significance of the folded napkin, you have to understand a little bit about the Hebrew tradition of that generation. The folded napkin had to do with the master and servant, and every Jewish boy knew this tradition. When the servant set the dinner table for the master, he (the servant) would then wait outside until the master had finished eating.

When the master had finished eating, he would wipe his hands and clean his beard, and would throw the napkin into one corner of the table – WITHOUT FOLDING IT! The servant would then know that it was time to clear the table. This was because in those days, the carelessly placed napkin was a message saying, “I have concluded eating.” But if the master got up from the table, folded his napkin, and laid it beside his plate, the servant would not dare touch the table, because the folded napkin meant, “I have not FINISHED! I AM STILL RETURNING TO THIS TABLE!
IAM COMING BACK.” Wow! He is coming back! When He rose from the dead, He FOLDED THE NAPKIN and every Jewish person then, knew that it meant, “ I HAVE FINISHED ONE PHASE OF MY ASSIGNMENT! I AM COMING BACK AGAIN!” Oh, my prayer is that you will never forget that HE IS COMING BACK! Use today’s devotional to clean up your life and to make right what is wrong! HE IS COMING BACK TO THE TABLE AT THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB! Don’t miss that VERY LAST SUPPER (today’s 2nd scripture, Vs.9)!
