There was a priest by the name of Valentine. He lived in Rome about 250 A.D. At that time, Rome was ruled by an emperor by the name of Claudius. Claudius wanted a big army. He thought that men would volunteer to join. But many men just did not want to leave their wives and girlfriends and sign up to fight. This made Claudius mad. He had a crazy idea that if men were not married, they would not mind joining his army. So Claudius passed a decree banning marriages. Valentine thought it was ridiculous! Well, after Emperor Claudius passed his law, Valentine kept on performing marriage ceremonies – but secretly. He would whisper the words of the ceremony, while listening for soldiers on the steps outside. One night, he did hear footsteps. The couple he was marrying escaped, but he was caught and thrown in jail and told that his punishment was death. Many young people came to the jail to visit him and threw flowers and notes up to his window. One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. Her father allowed her to visit him in his cell. They often sat and talked for hours. She believed that he did the right thing by ignoring the Emperor and performing marriage ceremonies. On the day he was to die, he left her a note and signed it: “Love from your Valentine.” It was written on the day he died, February 14, 269 A.D. The Holy Ghost wants you to know again that LOVE IS A VERB (a word describing an action)! For God so loved that He did something! He took an action! He gave His only Son! St. Valentine too, backed up his belief with action! He continued to perform marriage ceremonies even though he knew he could die for doing it. Any ‘love’ without an action to back it up is fraud! “My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth” (today’s scripture vs. 18). Today is not Valentine’s Day, but DETERMINE TO MAKE EVERY DAY IN 2025 A VALENTINE’S DAY! WALK IN LOVE DAILY! Forgive someone! Drop an encouragement note! Send an SMS of courage! Visit the elderly, the sick or orphans this week, renew your marital vows always, avoid sinful love, give to the poor! Daily Manna ODM 12TH April 2025

HYMN: WHAT A FRIEND WE HAVE IN JESUS

Verse 1:
What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer!
Oh, what peace we often forfeit, oh, what needless pain we bear,
All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer.

Verse 2:
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged—take it to the Lord in prayer.
Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness—take it to the Lord in prayer.

Verse 3:
Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care?
Precious Savior, still our refuge—take it to the Lord in prayer.
Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer.
In His arms He’ll take and shield thee—thou wilt find a solace there.

Let the peace of God rule your heart today. He is a faithful friend who never fails. 🙏❤️
