A very poor Scottish farmer named Fleming saved a young boy from drowning in a swamp one day. The boy’s father, Lord Randolph Churchill, visited the farmer to repay him for saving his son’s life. The farmer refused any money, so Lord Randolph Churchill offered to fund the education of Fleming’s son instead. The farmer agreed, and his son, Alexander Fleming, went on to study Medicine and later discovered one of the most important drugs in human history, the penicillin. Years later, that rich man’s son, Winston Churchill, now the Prime Minister of England, fell ill with pneumonia, and his life was saved by penicillin; the very drug discovered by Alexander Fleming, the farmer’s son. OH LIFE! Ah! Proverbs 11:25 says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” If you know the extent a simple selfless act can go, you will seize every opportunity to do good. By saving a drowning child, his son was sent to school who discovered a drug that saved millions of people, including the greatest prime minister of England. I call that, a full cycle of good! It was Zach Chuck who said “One small act of kindness can ripple through time and change the course of history.” Yes! Listen, when life gives you an opportunity to do good, grab it—you could be planting the seeds of a future miracle! Close with James 2:13: “Because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.
