ODM TOPIC: WANTED! WANTED!! WANTED!!!UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE
God has always sought for ‘unqualified’ people to carry out His tasks. If not, how do you explain the choice of insignificant David over his more qualified brothers? How do you explain the choice of Solomon, the son of an adulteress (Bathsheba, the former wife of Uriah) over the more legitimate sons of David? How then do you explain our Saviour Jesus Christ coming from this adulterous lineage? Mercy at work! Do you feel your past is so unforgivable? Well, He needs you most! Do you feel that you do not possess the physical abilities for His task? Well, His grace is sufficient for you! How many times have you turned down an assignment in your local church because you feel, ‘brother X’ or ‘sister Y’ is more qualified? Or because you feel that he/she is a ‘saint’ or a better orator than you are? Well, the good news is that Jesus Christ did not come for the ‘saints.’ He came for people like you and I who know and keep thinking: “I know I have a very terrible past, I know I do not possess the oratory or the physical abilities for His work, but I know Christ has paid the price for me! Let His grace see me through.” He needs men/women who will depend solely on Him, irrespective of their past and physical inadequacies to move the gospel forward! Did Moses agree that he was qualified? No! Did Gideon agree that he was qualified? No! Despite his great intelligence, Daniel felt so inadequate that he had to pray constantly (three times a day – Dan 6: 10) to avoid failure! In fact, God can deliberately replace you because you feel you are qualified! So in your inadequacy, please stop condemning yourself and trust God!
