A young lady told her pastor, “I won’t attend church anymore.” When the pastor asked why, she replied, “In church, I see people on their phones, gossiping and not living right—they’re hypocrites.” The pastor paused, then asked her to do one thing before deciding. He handed her a full glass of water and told her to walk around the church twice without spilling any. She completed the task and returned. He asked her, “Did you see when I was taking pictures of you as you completed the assignment?” She said, “No, I was focused on the glass.” She was suddenly blind to her surroundings because of the assignment in her hand. She was suddenly oblivious to her environment because something more important had seized her attention. What consumes your attention controls your perception. If you can hear the backbiting in church, your back is not turned enough! And you will get bitten by those tongues. Focus on God ahead and don’t pay attention to distractions this year! I have never seen an athlete who runs backwards and crosses the finish line with his chest. Ignore distractions in 2025! Remember Philippians 3:14, which says, “I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” In 2025, focus on your focus and the world will make you their focus! PEACE!
