BASIC SCRIPTURE FOR JUNE 17
PROVERBS 18:1-10 (KJV)

  1. Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom.

  2. A fool hath no delight in understanding, but that his heart may discover itself.

  3. When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

  5. It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.

  6. A fool’s lips enter into contention, and his mouth calleth for strokes.

  7. A fool’s mouth is his destruction, and his lips are the snare of his soul.

  8. The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.

  9. He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

  10. The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

PRAYER FOR JUNE 17

Heavenly Father,
We come before You today, seeking wisdom as Proverbs 18 teaches. Deliver us from foolish desires and selfish pursuits. Guard our tongues, that we may speak life, not destruction. Let our words be like deep waters of wisdom, refreshing others. Help us to flee from gossip and laziness, and to run to You—our strong tower—in every challenge. May we build our lives on Christ, our solid rock. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

DECLARATIONS:

  1. *”I pursue godly wisdom, not selfish ambition (v.1-2).”*

  2. “My words bring life, healing, and wisdom (v.4).”

  3. *”I reject gossip and foolish arguments (v.6-8).”*

  4. “I am diligent in all my work (v.9).”

  5. “The name of the Lord is my strong tower (v.10)!”

HYMN: “MY HOPE IS BUILT ON NOTHING LESS”
(Full Original Lyrics by Edward Mote, 1834)

Verse 1:
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

Refrain:
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

Verse 2:
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

Verse 3
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

Verse 4
When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
Clothed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Verse 5 (Lesser Known)
To Him I owe my life and breath,
And all the joys I taste in death;
Through Him I triumph o’er the grave,
And live eternally to save.
