It is one thing to survive hardship, it is another thing entirely to survive success. Don’t Forget That Peter’s Boat Began To Sink After A Load Of Fish Breakthroughs! Do You Know That There Are Breakthroughs That Sink People? (See Luke 5: 7) The danger of success is that it can make you forget the God who gave it. In Deuteronomy 8:10–14, God warned Israel, “When you have eaten and are satisfied… be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God.” Israel survived 40 years of wilderness miracles only to grow fat and forgetful in Canaan (Deuteronomy 8:11-14). There is a kind of abundance that makes you think you no longer need prayer! Jesus spoke of a rich man in Luke 12:16–21 who had “plenty of goods laid up for many years.” The man said to himself (paraphrased), “Take life easy!” But that night, God called him a fool! Listen: Financial and material “success” are not proofs of spiritual health. Jesus didn’t condemn the rich man’s barns! He only condemned his self-confidence (Luke 12:19-21). What God gave you can only last if God remains at the center of it! That promotion, that overflow, that fruit of the womb, that influence, they are not rewards; they are final exams! They come with a hidden question: “Will you still seek Me when your prayers have been answered?” That was what happend to Abraham (See Genesis 21)! ISAAC was ABRAHAM’S EXAM! Wow! He passed!
