In ancient Philippi, two men named Paul and Silas were wrongly accused and thrown into a Roman prison. Their crime? Preaching about Jesus and setting a slave girl free from demonic oppression. Beaten, bleeding, and chained in the deepest part of the dungeon, they had every reason to be silent, bitter, and broken. But at midnight, at their darkest hour, they chose to sing! Acts 16:25 says, “And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.” Remember the response of heaven (verse 26), “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” The chains that were meant to silence them became their weapons of praise! Their chains became instruments! Their pain became prophecy! What hell thought would break them, built them up! Some people only praise after the miracle! But Paul and Silas praised until the miracle. That is the secret of unshakeable believers! Zen Steve declared, “Praise isn’t a response to victory, it is the weapon that creates it.” Hear the word of the Lord: sing through that sorrow, worship through the weeping and lift up your voice; not because things are good, but because God is good!
