It was Serena Williams, the famous tennis player, who said: “I am lucky that whatever fear I have inside of me, my desire to win is always stronger.” That means some days, this world-class famous personality could still be afraid in a sport she has always excelled in. But hear her again: “My desire to win is stronger.” No matter your challenges, your desire to win should be stronger than depression, discouragement or being downcast! The psalmist cried in Psalm 56:3 – “When I am afraid, I put my trust in You, in God.” Even the psalmist was afraid like any one of us! But in the midst of his fears, his dependence on God suddenly outweighed his fears! Hallelujah! The LORD is speaking to a user of today’s devotional: “Don’t be afraid to take up those big projects! It’s size and expectations may frighten you, but it does not frighten me – your God. If you can just believe in ME, all it takes is a little more faith than fear! Even if your faith is just a mustard seed size more than the fear, you already have victory in ME.” Oh, lift your hands and praise the LORD now! Listen: Esther knew the consequences of going to the king uninvited(Esther 4:10-16). Of course, she was sore afraid, but like Serena Williams, she had a little more faith than her fear and she claimed victory from the jaws of fear! Ah! It was Ralph Waldo Emerson who penned, “Do the thing you fear, and the death of fear is certain.” Take up that big project, make that phone call, take that step of faith, declare a fast concerning that mistake you made, go to that personality that scares you, etc, and you will discover that, that which does not kill you makes you stronger!
