Scripture Reading: Isaiah 43:18-19 (KJV)
“Remember ye not the former things, neither consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

Introduction: As we step into September, the beginning of the Ember months, we are reminded that this is a season of new beginnings, opportunities, and divine breakthroughs. It is a time to forget the past and press forward into what God has prepared for us. Isaiah 43:18-19 encourages us not to dwell on the past but to perceive the new things God is doing. This is a month where we must align ourselves with God’s will and be open to His divine plans.

1. The Significance of New Beginnings:

• September is often viewed as a month of transition and preparation, leading to the final quarter of the year.
• It is a time to evaluate our lives, make necessary changes, and set new goals in alignment with God’s purpose.
• The Bible speaks of new beginnings, from creation in Genesis to the promise of a new heaven and earth in Revelation. God is always doing something new.

2. Embracing God’s Promises:

• God’s promises are new every morning (Lamentations 3:22-23). This September, we should stand firm on His promises, knowing that He is faithful.
• Just as God promised to make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert, He is ready to make a way for us where there seems to be no way.
• Reflect on personal promises God has given you. Believe that He will fulfill them in His timing.

3. Walking in Divine Opportunities:

• Every new month comes with its unique set of divine opportunities. September is no different.
• We must have a spiritual sensitivity to discern these opportunities and the courage to act upon them.
• The story of the widow in 2 Kings 4:1-7 reminds us that sometimes, God’s opportunities are tied to our actions. She had to gather vessels and pour the little oil she had to experience her miracle.

4. The Importance of Forgetting the Past:

• Isaiah 43:18 instructs us to forget the former things and not dwell on the past.
• Holding on to past mistakes, failures, or even successes can hinder us from experiencing what God has for us now.
• Apostle Paul said in Philippians 3:13-14, “Forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

5. Preparing for God’s New Thing:

• God is always ready to do a new thing in our lives, but we must be prepared to receive it.
• Preparation involves prayer, fasting, seeking God’s face, and being obedient to His word.
• As we move into this new month, let us ask God to prepare our hearts and minds for the new things He wants to do.
