Dear Beloved Family in Christ,

As the year 2025 draws to a close and the spirit of Christmas fills the air with hope, joy, and the timeless message of God’s unending love, we at the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) are thrilled to invite you to an extraordinary event that promises to ignite your hearts and unite our community in fellowship. Mark your calendars for The Love Carnival – a two-day extravaganza of worship, fun, giving, and spiritual renewal, happening on December 25th and 26th, 2025!

This isn’t just any gathering; it’s a divine appointment designed to reflect the essence of Christmas – the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who came to demonstrate the greatest love the world has ever known. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son…” (John 3:16). In the same spirit of giving and love, The Love Carnival aims to feed the hungry, uplift the weary, and create lasting memories for families, youth, and everyone in between. Hosted by the vibrant RCCG Lagos Youth Province Family (LGAF), this event is a beacon of hope in Festac, Lagos, and beyond.

Why You Should Attend

Imagine starting Christmas evening with soul-stirring worship under the stars, followed by a hearty meal shared in community. Then, wake up on Boxing Day to morning devotions, exciting games, and opportunities to give back. Families can bond over activities, youth can connect with peers in faith-based fun, and everyone leaves with a heart full of joy and a stomach full of blessings!

This event draws inspiration from RCCG’s global mission to spread the Gospel and demonstrate practical Christianity. As Pastor E.A. Adeboye often teaches, true love is action-oriented – and The Love Carnival is our way of putting that into practice. We’ve seen similar events, like our annual conventions and youth expressions, change lives, and we believe this will be no different.

Enoch Adeboye sexism row: Why the Nigerian pastor is so popular

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, born on March 2, 1942, in Ifewara, Osun State, Nigeria, is the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) worldwide. Growing up in a humble family, he faced poverty and did not wear shoes until age 18. His early education began at Ilesha Grammar School in 1956. Despite the disruptions of the Nigerian Civil War, he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) in 1967, a Master’s in Hydrodynamics from the University of Lagos in 1969, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the same university in 1975.

Professionally, Adeboye worked as a lecturer in Mathematics at the University of Lagos and the University of Ilorin. He joined the RCCG in 1973 as an interpreter for the founder, Pa Josiah Akindayomi, translating sermons from Yoruba to English. Ordained as a pastor in 1975, he became General Overseer in 1981 following Akindayomi’s death. Initially part-time while lecturing, he transitioned to full-time ministry after three years. Under his leadership, RCCG has grown exponentially from a small Nigerian church to a global denomination with branches in about 198 countries, over 14 million worshipers in Nigeria alone, and a goal to have a church within five minutes’ walking or driving distance in urban areas.

Known for preaching the prosperity gospel, Adeboye emphasizes God’s tangible interventions in daily life alongside eternal salvation. His ministry includes massive crusades, the annual Holy Ghost Congress, and initiatives like the Open Heavens Daily Devotional, which reaches millions. He has authored numerous books, including Open Heavens Daily Devotional, Lessons from the Sower, Kingdom Prosperity, and Prevailing Prayers. Philanthropically, his foundation has donated medical equipment, such as dialysis machines to hospitals, and he has endowed professorial chairs in Mathematics at universities like Obafemi Awolowo University and the University of Nigeria.

Adeboye has received numerous honors, including being named one of Newsweek’s 50 most powerful people in the world in 2008, one of New African magazine’s Top 100 most influential Africans in 2019, and multiple honorary doctorates from institutions like the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, and Oral Roberts University. He served as the second national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria from 1992 to 1995. On a personal note, he married Foluke Adeyokunnu on December 17, 1967, and they have four children (three sons and one daughter) and several grandchildren. Tragically, he lost his son Dare Adeboye in 2021 at age 42. A biopic film titled Enoch was released in 2023 to celebrate his 81st birthday.
