There was a newspaper story about an old carnival man nicknamed “Cannonball.” In his younger days, he was blasted out of a cannon (Billiards-Snooker) 1,200 times, pulled a 90-pound weight across a table with his eyelids, and performed many other bizarre stunts. When asked why he did such things, he replied, “Do you know what it’s like to feel the applause of 60,000 people? That’s why I did it over and over!” The Holy Ghost wants you to know that it is dangerous to be a MAN PLEASER! Those who are men pleasers can do anything to get the praise of men. Yes, they don’t care about God, they care about the praise of men and can do anything to be in the good books of men. They forget that THE FASTEST MEDICINE FOR FAILURE IS TRYING TO PLEASE EVERYBODY! As a PHARMACIST, I call that medicine, “PLEASE–ALL– CILLIN!” Let me know if you want some! LAUGHS! Vs. 43 of today’s scripture says: “They loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.” Men Pleasers Can Please You And Then Press You Into Shame! They Can Laugh With You Then Plan Your Lamentation Later! They Are Poisons In Disguise! They Have The Venom Of The Adder (Snake)! They Can Bite You And Then Plan Your Burial! Avoid Them This Year!In fact, even God cannot please all men and you cannot please men no matter how nice you are!In today’s scripture, Jesus rebuked certain folk who refused to follow Him openly because they wanted to be accepted by the Pharisees. Close with Dave Branon: “If we gain the world’s applause… What shame will fill us on that day When Thou Thy glory shall display!” Determine to please God alone this year!
