In the midst of the opposition to potatoes, a Frenchman named Parmentier took some potatoes to FRANCE! Upon his return to France, he procured an experimental farm from the Emperor, in which he planted potatoes. A few days later, one of the farm guards hastened to Parmentier with the sad news that some people had broken into the little potato farm at night, and dug up most of the crop. Parmentier was overjoyed, much to the surprise of his informant and exclaimed, “When the people will steal in order to procure potatoes, their popularity is assured.” Funny but what the Holy Ghost is saying to user of today’s devotional is that GREAT THINGS HAVE ROUGH BEGINNINGS AND even TOUGHER OPPOSITION when you approach success! Vs. 2 of today’s scripture says: “I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight…” Crooked places stand for OPPOSITION and challenges! No wonder Zig Ziglar penned: “Don’t be distracted by criticism! Remember, the only taste of success some people get is to take a bite out of you.” George S. Patton quipped: “Success is how high you bounce when you hit bottom.” Yes! NEVER GIVE UP! Today, are potatoes not eaten all over the world? Ah! Indeed, the greater the difficulty, the more the glory in surmounting it! 2025 is your year! Hold on and hold out!
