In an interview with journalists, a domestic violence survivor, Pascale Kavanagh, said that she never thought she would reconnect with her mother her abuser during her adult life. However, in 2010, her mother suffered several strokes that left her unable to communicate or take care of herself.

With no one else to help, Kavanagh began to sit by her mother’s bedside and read to her. Through this, Kavanagh said that the hate she had for her mother dissipated into forgiveness and love. Wow! THE POWER OF FORGIVENESS! Yes! SHE BECAME THE UNCOMMON CAREGIVER TO THE ONE SHE ONCE HATED!
No wonder Corrie Ten Boom is quipped: “Forgiveness the key that unlocks the

It is a character of God! It is divine! The Bible tells us that if God should count (mark) iniquities, no one will stand (Psalm 130:3). You only hurt yourself the more when you do not forgive. UNFORGIVENESS PUTS YOUR DESTINY HANDS IN HANDCUFFS!
When you do what Pascale Kavanagh did, you show forth nobility of character. Today’s scripture catalogues for us what our responses should be when we have been ill-treated. He says we should bless those who curse us, pray for those who despise you, give to those who are indigent, love your enemies and forgive so that you can be forgiven.
