Welcome to today’s devotional! Psalm 145: 8 says: “The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy.” God’s mercies are new every morning. Receive them because He knows that life’s battles and life’s enemies are new every morning! That is why Romans 9: 16 says: “So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.” MERCY! MERCY!! OH! SWEET DIVINE MERCY! WE NEED THEE DAILY! No wonder William Shakespeare once prayed: “Open Thy gate of mercy, gracious God, My soul flies through these wounds to seek outThee.” He was wise to know that it is in WOUNDS AND BATTLES THAT THE VOICE OF MERCY IS MOSTLY NEEDED! But see Galatians 2: 21: “I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.” Note the words: “I DO NOT FRUSTRATE THE GRACE OF GOD.” That means it is possible to FRUSTRATE MERCY/GRACE – GOD’S HELP! This is because: THERE IS MORE MERCY IN CHRIST THAN SIN IN US BUT, WE MUST NOT FRUSTRATE THAT MERCY! To sin because mercy abounds is the devil’s logic; he that sins because of God’s mercy, shall have judgment without mercy. Ah! Catch this: THE CHRIST OF MERCY IS ALSO CHRIST THE CONSUMING FIRE (See Heb. 12: 29)! That is why Mercy is not for them that sin and fear not, but for them that fear and sin not! Did you get that? DO NOT DELIBERATELY SIN AGAINST GOD BECAUSE YOU MAY NOT BE ALIVE TO REPENT OR WITNESS THE REPERCUSSION! It also means that: THE GOD THAT INSTANTLY KILLED ANANIAS AND SAPPHIRA (his wife) – today’s 2nd scripture – IS STILL ON DUTY! Pursue Holiness and leave the rest to god! Close with this: No mercy was shown to Him, yet He continues to be MERCIFUL, BUT LET US NOT JOKE WITH HIS MERCY! Ask ANANIAS and ask his wife SAPPHIRA. Pray seriously now!
