Welcome! Let’s begin today’s devotional with 2 Corinthians 7:1: “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.”
Note: there is something called filthiness of the spirit! Even though it may seem to people around us that we are living a clean, moral life, in our spirit it is sometimes obvious we may be harbouring a character or hiding some habits that displease the Lord!
These are sins against the spirit – UNSEEN SINS BY THE HUMAN EYE! So, in this year 2023, learn to give attention to the small unseen things – THE HIDDEN THINGS NOT SEEN BY THE EYES OF MEN. Our Daily Manna 30 May 2023 – AH! BEWARE OF THE SINS OF THE SPIRIT IN 2023!
King David’s life illustrates this: His lust for Bathsheba (unseen by human eyes) led to adultery and murder (2 Samuel 11:9-15) and brought great pain to his own life/nation. In today’s scripture, David was deceived into numbering Israel.
This seemingly innocent act displeased God because David was taking pride in his military might; THIS IS A SIN OF THE SPIRIT – IT APPEARS INNOCENT BY HUMAN JUDGMENT BUT GRIEVOUS BY DIVINE STANDARDS!
He apparently made a subtle shift from complete reliance on God, who had often miraculously delivered him, to trusting in his own power and strength. No wonder Dennis De Haan penned: “On the outside, it may appear to others that we are winning the battle against sin.
But we must stay alert to the sins of the spirit, especially pride. They can cause us to stumble and fall, even at the end of life’s journey.” Wow! “We may confess our outward sins because they’re difficult to hide, but we must also guard against our inner sins, like secret lust and pride” (Anonymous).
Pride And Lust Are Hidden Stones (Unseen) Over Which Many People Stumble. Watch it! Deal with every sin against the spirit, even though unseen by men! HEAVEN IS REAL! NOTHING MUST STOP YOU THIS YEAR! Amen and amen! Pray now!
Remember Next Month Is ODM ANNUAL Month Of MERCY! It is a Month dedicated to do Charity work and to show Practical Love! This should be done throughout the month wherever you are! It should involve visiting Orphanages, Hospitals, Elderly people’s homes, etc.
