Perfection! I’ve struggled with this one quite a bit: the pursuit of perfection. After all, God’s Word (today’s scripture Vs. 48) says “BE YE…PERFECT EVEN AS YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER…IS PERFECT!” Wow! The truth is, there’s no such thing as “perfect as God” in this human flesh or terrestrial planet. What might seem perfect to one person might be imperfect to another or even to God. “HUMAN PERFECTION” CANNOT MEET THE ABSOLUTE STANDARD OF GOD’S HOLINESS!JUST DETERMINE TO PLEASE GOD AND DO YOUR VERY, VERY BEST DAILY! Over time, I’ve realized that it’s not about achieving perfection, but about giving your best and being contented with the outcome. Refuse the PERFECTION BULLET this year!REFUSE TO CONDEMN YOUR “IMPERFECT SELF,” BUT NEVER DELIBERATELY LIVE IN SIN! STRIVE TO PLEASE GOD DAILY!AS A BELIEVER WHO DOES NOT TOY WITH SIN, YOU LIVE DAILY BY JUSTIFICATION AND NOT PERFECTION (see Romans 3: 20, 23-24). I remember! Oh, I was a perfection freak and I used to condemn myself and others a lot – be it in my work, my appearance, or even the way I organize my home/family. I used to strive for things to be ‘perfect.’ But here’s what I’ve learned: “Perfection LIKE GOD” is an “impossible” standard on this human planet. See Psalm 130: 3 now! So-called “PERFECTION” is a moving goal post that often leads to stress, anxiety, and disatisfaction! That is why you must regularly forgive people too if it is within your power to do so! But always remember this year:YOU ARE WORK-IN-PROGRESS AND GOD HAS NOT FINISHED WITH YOU YET… (To be continued tomorrow…).
