Years ago, the New York Times reported how a soldier in the US army narrowly escaped death when a bullet hit him on the chest during one of the missions. A bullet tore into his chest and arm, but the bullet was slowed by a New Testament Bible he was carrying in his shirt pocket. Years later, the young man still treasured the bloodstained book with the ragged hole through the middle. He believes it saved his life. Amazing! Colossians 3:16 says: “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” DWELL WHERE? DWELL IN YOU – YOUR HEART! It is the Word of Christ in your HEART that saves not the one in your HEAD! If the Bible in his shirt pocket (around his physical heart) could save him, how much more the Word of God in your inner heart? God’s Word is not given to us to bring temporal relief from anxiety; it is given to be obeyed so that its help would not be only for this life, but for eternity. Hear Charles Spurgeon: “The Word of God is a lamp by night, a light by day, and a delight at all times.” Yes! The Word of God is like a lion. You don’t have to defend a lion. All you have to do is let the lion loose, and the lion will defend itself! Deal with Procrastination! As 2024 ends, determine to still FINISH YOUR BIBLE AND MEDITATE ON IT DAILY! It is like a lion!
