It was A.W. Tozer who penned, “It is doubtful whether God can bless a man greatly until He has hurt him deeply.” Two words to note; “greatly” and “deeply.” There has to be a deep pain before there is a great blessing. Isaiah 48:10 says, “Behold, I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction.” Listen: A true child of God does not lose hope in distress or trials! This is because, as there is a deep HURT for the believer, there will also be a great HURRAY for him/her. Unbelievers do not have this hope! Joseph’s betrayal led him to Egypt! Daniel’s faithfulness led him to the lions’ den! Esther’s courage led her to risk her life! Yet in each case, the chaos was not the end—it was the process. Do not curse the fire! It is refining you for the glory ahead! Elizabeth, the wife of Zacharias, was barren for many years! Her mates were giving birth but her womb yielded no fruit. She was not aware that God was creating a great man from her womb – it was John the Baptist! The man who came to make the WAY for Jesus – the Saviour of the world! From her deep pain came great joy! John 11:4 says, “When Jesus heard that, He said, ‘This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” That DELAY will lead to GREAT DANCING! No matter what the situation is, always declare: “This is to the glory of God! I am holding on and holding out because God will do a new thing!” Amen and amen!
