In the 1960s, Corvair was a popular car used mainly in the United States and Europe. A lady named Rose Martins loved her Corvair low-slung, rear- engine vehicle so much that she drove it for 35 years, even though the car was eventually classified as “unsafe.” However, before she died in May 1998, she had written a death request that she should be buried in her treasured white Corvair car. And in line with her “strange request,” she was buried with her car in a large grave! Think about that! The emphasis of today’s devotion is that whether you are buried in a limousine or you are buried as a pauper, the soul is the ultimate and never decays! Most people are concerned about how and where their bodies will be buried. Whether you are buried in the world’s most famous cemetery – Père Lachaise in Paris, or at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, Los Angeles, or at the glamorous Highgate Cemetery in London, including the famous Cementerio de la Recoleta in Buenos Aires, the essence of man is dust! Yes! It is wise to give some thought to cemetery plots and funeral arrangements, etc, but such issues are insignificant compared with the concern we ought to have for our undying eternal souls (Matthew 16:26). The rich man in today’s scripture was not concerned about his soul. He was probably more concerned about how and where he would be buried. Heaven called him, a “fool.” I wonder how many souls will be called FOOLS by heaven! How much time do you give daily to your soul’s welfare – Prayers, Bible Study, Purity of Thoughts, Words & Actions? If your secular job/anything is keeping your soul dry, adjust or resign!If it is your TV, etc, please sell it! It’s better to make heaven unknown or poor than to be a popular star in hell! Don’t joke with today’s devotional! Give your soul’s matters greater attention as you go out today/daily in this 2nd half of 2025!
