Today’s devotional emphasis is on Verses 3 and 4(2nd scripture). Vs. 3 says: “Who is left among you that saw this house in her first glory? And how do ye see it now? Is it not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?” Wow! Is it not an error for the glory of your yesterday to be greater than that of today? How can you make progress when your life is on a backward curve or reverse gear? That devil is a liar! As 2024 ends, any plan to surcharge your today for yesterday or yesterday for today scatters now by fire! Pray now as we continue: “Robbers of my latter glory, success and laughter as this year ends, run mad and dry up now by fire” (pray it seriously). Haggai’s prophecy is one that has suffered neglect in scripture, but it holds much for the present-day church! Haggai’s prophecy addresses the Jewish exiles who had returned from Babylonian captivity, back to their homeland. They had a mission to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem which was their religious heritage. They started well, but along the way, they abandoned the work and went into their personal affairs. And what the Holy Ghost is saying to a user of today’s devotional is: “Don’t let the TEMPLE OF GOD IN YOU LIE IN WASTE! After all, you are the only reason Jesus died! Don’t be too busy with life, pursuing your personal and selfish ambitions and forget about your soul and the kingdom. Haggai asked in chapter 1: “Is it time for you to dwell in your ceiled houses, and this temple to lie in ruins?” (Haggai 1:4). Do something for the house of God within the next 8 days!
