ODM TOPIC: THE PRESIDENT’S MOBILE PHONES: BREAK THAT TRADITION – 1
Welcome! It is alleged that hundreds have Donald Trump’s personal number and he accepts unknown calls. There is the fear by the President’s advisers that this could lead to a national security breach. Ever since Rutherford Hayes installed the first White House telephone in 1877, a call from the President of the U.S. has not been something to be taken lightly. The phone would ring; an intermediary, often a national security advisor, would ask the caller to “hold for the president,” before the president was put through. Immediately after the call, staff would provide “readouts,” detailing what had been discussed. Even Barack Obama, the first President of the Smartphone era, was persuaded to change his usage to fit the White House mould. In his phone habits, as with so many aspects of his leadership, Donald Trump has decisively broken from tradition. As a result, Trump is said to have at least two and possibly three personal iPhones. “Trump has no other management life, or business life, than on the phone,” says Michael Wolff. “The phone is essentially another platform for him. Trump’s free and easy communications have caused much consternation among his security advisors, who fear that he risks opening himself up to an attack by a foreign power.” Today’s devotional emphasis shall be based on two phrases: FIRST – “Donald Trump has decisively broken from tradition.” I LIKE THAT! And what the Holy Ghost wants you to know is that there are certain negative traditions that you must break away from! Break from the tradition of doing WHATEVER IS NOT GOOD – lateness to church or appointments, living in sin, PROCRASTINATION and spiritual complacency, etc. Yes! Be like the sun; never let the opinions of those who hate you to dull your shine! Only someone wishing to disappear would ever strive to ‘fit in’” …(to be continued tomorrow)!
