TOPIC: RUN LIKE ERIC LIDDEL!
Eric Liddell was a Scottish Olympic runner who became famous for refusing to compete in the 100-meter race at the 1924 Olympics. Why? Because it was held on a Sunday. What? As big as the Olympics is, he forfeited it to attend Sunday service, to be in God’s presence! Amazing! But guess what? He competed in the next 400-meter race. See what happened: he didn’t just win the gold medal, but he set a world record. Hallelujah! Daniel 1:15-20 tells us of how Daniel rejected the king’s delicious and tantalizing food for seeds and herbs. But in the end, God rewarded him with good health and blessings money cannot buy! Psalm 37:25 says, “I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.” There is no one I know who chose to honor God above everything else, and wasn’t rewarded beyond and above. NEVER! As 2025 ends, when you make the tough choice to follow God above fame or fortune, you don’t lose out; you gain everything! Determine to stay alone more with GOD! Determine to know God more! And determine to see yourself grow in the LORD! Obedience opens doors that talent and effort alone never could! Grey Desmond said, “Choosing God may seem like a sacrifice, but in the end, it’s the only investment that pays eternal dividends.” Hallelujah! Close with this verse, “…No good thing does He withhold from those who walk uprightly” (Psalm 84:11). Always remember Eric Liddell the Scottish Olympic runner! Pray seriously now!
