A teacher of wisdom once asked his students, “Did you ever watch a sculptor slowly fashioning a human image?” The general answer was, ‘Yes!” Likewise, we all have seen at one village square or city, different works of sculptors! You have the great Statute of Liberty in America, the statute of the late Chief Awolowo at Ikeja in Lagos or the oblong-statute of the late Chief M.K.O Abiola along the Oworonshoki Expressway, also in Lagos. There is Christ the Redeemer in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and lots of other statutes of great men and women that litter the landscape of every nation, city or village. But do you know that these statutes were not moulded suddenly? Yes, they were not struck out in a single blow! The artist or sculptor works endless hours, days, weeks or even years in labour and pain to finish a product! It is a work of time, sacrifice, and at last, the full likeness/shape emerges and stands out, fixed and unchanging in solid marble. So also is God’s operation in our lives. Everyday, as the perfect Potter, the Artist of artists, the Sculptor of sculptors, He spends time to add and to remove some things out of your life and ministry! There are days He would use the hammer and chisel in painful labour to shape your destiny! There are days this great Potter would only use fire to mould solid iron into your life’s frame! But in all these, YOUR TODAY is not His major concern! YOUR TOMORROW – your end product is His utmost concern! The Word in Isaiah 64:8 says, “But now, O LORD, Thou art our Father; we are the clay, and Thou our potter; and we all are the work of Thy hand.” God is the Potter and you are the clay! Allow Him to do His work! Jeremiah 29: 11 says, even when He is using the hammer on you or passing you through the fire, He has an expected end of good and not evil! Wow! At the Cathedral of Milan in Italy, there are three sentences carved in marble at the door: “All that which troubles is but for a moment! All that which pleases us is for a moment! That only is important which is eternal.” A life of ease is for a moment! Likewise is any battle/ trial/trouble you are allowed by the great Potter to pass through! Stop getting depressed! Trust God! You will be called “Beulah.”
