TOPIC: DEMAS: CONSUMED BY THE WORLD!
When sin and iniquity consumes a city or an organisation, it pulls the city/organisation down into destruction. Hundreds of ancient cities have been destroyed and long forgotten because of their sin and wickedness. Sodom and Gomorrah are an example! Hundreds of companies and business corporations have been swallowed up because of the greed and dishonesty of their business leaders. And hundreds and probably thousands of ministries and ministers have been consumed by the lust of this world. Demas, in today’s second scripture, is a classic example. When you love money (and the things of this natural world) more than you love God, those things will consume you and pull you away from the LORD! Beware! Notice that Demas was a believer! Lot was a righteous man! Yet, they were vulnerable to being swept away! Lot escaped; Demas could not. INIQUITY CONSUMES EVEN THE RIGHTEOUS! BEWARE!!! There is one word of warning: FLEE. That is what the angels told Lot. That is what Paul trained Timothy to do: FLEE! Hear this: If the devil finds it difficult to corrupt you with sin, he will surround you with people who will corrupt you and vex your soul. Sooner or later, you may have to CUT OFF THESE PEOPLE! This could also mean that you may have to change your church, place of work or even your neighbourhood. Close with Sam Storms: “The focus of Satan’s efforts is always the same: to deceive us into believing that the passing pleasures of sin are more satisfying than obedience.” Pursue holiness as 2025 ends!
