TOPIC: THE BEST TIME TO PRAISE THE LORD!
BASIC SCRIPTURE: PSALM 34:1-10
David was on the run from king Saul when he declared in Psalm 34:1, “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.” So he was being chased, and had the need to still praise God! In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat was surrounded by enemies and with no hope in sight, he declared – “Give thanks to the Lord, for His love endures forever.” Ha! Ha! Ha! PRAISING GOD IN THE STORM? Remember Apostle Paul rejoicing in the Lord while locked up in prison! What do these people have in common? Simple, you do not praise God only when your circumstances are good – rather, praise Him, because your God is good. When your faith and joy is rooted in who God is, rather than what He should do, even a prison cell cannot steal your peace! Robert Schuller said: “Joy is not the absence of suffering. It is the presence of God.” No doubt, in the presence of God there is fullness of joy and there are pleasures forevermore (Psalm 16:11). But catch this: Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass, it’s about learning to dance in the rain! When you understand this, then your joy becomes rooted in God’s presence and not in circumstances! Refuse To Allow Circumstances To Dictate How You Feel Or Live Your Life Even When You Don’t Feel His Presence! Determine to praise God even when it is stormy, rainy and life has no new song to offer!
