The notable writer and literary genius, William Shakespeare, once said through the “songs” of Macbeth: “Life is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing.” But we know that God is not an idiot and life may sometimes be full of “sound and fury” (trials) but they signify THE PLAN OF GOD TO YOUR PROMISED LAND! Ah! How do you explain a journey of 11 days to the Promised Land being extended to a journey of 40 years? That was what happened in today’s scripture and that is a PERFECT DESCRIPTION of disappointment just before a BIG CELEBRATION! How do you explain the tears and agony/disappointment of an old man (MOSES) who missed the Promised Land? Here was a man who had prayed and fasted for the people! Here was a man who saw the back of God! Here was a man who had demolished Pharaoh and disgraced Egypt! Here was a man of miracles, signs and wonders! Here was a man who had received the 10 commandments for the world! Ah! Here was the man who was used to divide the RED SEA worshipped by the Egyptians, yet because of a human error – ANGER – HE MISSED THE PROMISED LAND! Moses was provoked just before his breakthrough! And that is what happens to millions of people! Just before their GLORY HOUR, ARROWS of a quarrel, a bad temper, careless words, leaking mouth (revealing secrets), a sexual sin, an unforgiving act, disobedience to divine authority, discouragement, changing church or career, etc, are released against them! Oh! Just before his breakthrough hour, Moses faced disappointment! He saw the Promised LAND but he did not enter! HE EVEN WEPT AND BEGGED GOD TO ENTER, BUT GOD SAID (paraphrased) “NO! NO!
