What is Tourmaline?
Tourmaline is the name of a large group of boron silicate minerals. These minerals share a common crystal structure and similar physical properties. The tourmaline gemstone has the uncanny ability to become its own source of electric charge, as it is both pyroelectric, as well as piezoelectric. When the gem is put under greater amounts of pressure or when it is dramatically heated or cooled, it creates an electrical charge capable of emitting infrared waves and negative ions. Today it is a well-known fact that tourmaline gemstone can seamlessly aid the body’s detoxification process.
3 Feldspar and Rocks Supply in Nigeria.
Feldspars are used widely in the glass and ceramics industries. Most of the products we use on a daily basis are made with feldspar: glass for drinking, glass for protection, fiberglass for insulation, the floor tiles and shower basins in our bathrooms, and the tableware, paint, mild abrasives, urethane, welding electrodes (production of steel), latex foam, the welding of rod coating, and road aggregate.
4. Kaolin Clay Lumps
Kaolin, or China clay, is nearly white in color. It is distinguished from other industrial clays based on its fine particle size and pure coloring. Its ability to disperse in water make it an ideal pigment. Kaolin has a variety of other uses in products including paint, rubber, cable insulation, specialty films and fertilizers. New uses are being discovered frequently, and ensure that the mineral will remain in demand for a long time.
- lithium Ore
Lithium and its compounds have several industrial applications, including heat-resistant glass and ceramics, lithium grease lubricants, flux additives for iron, steel and aluminium production, lithium batteries, and lithium-ion batteries. Lithium ore minerals in Nigeria is exported as spodumene, petalite, amblygonite, and lepidolite. Lithium niobate is used to make cell phone batteries. Lithium can be combined with other metals (usually aluminum, cadmium, copper or manganese) to make airplane parts. Lithium can be used in focal lenses for telescopes and common spectacles. Tantalite is the most widespread tantalum mineral and makes for an important ore of the industrially useful metal. Tantalum is used in alloys for strength and higher melting points, in glass to increase the index of refraction, and in surgical steel, as it is non-reactive and non-irritating to body tissues. Is used in metalworking equipment especially in the making of carbide tools.
