BASIC BIBLE VERSE ISAIAH 45:1-813 December 2023
BASIC SCRIPTURE: ISAIAH 45:1-8
Thus saith the Lord to his anointed, to Cyrus, whose right hand I have holden, to subdue nations before him; and I will loose the loins of kings, to open before him the two leaved gates; and the gates shall not be shut;
2 I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
3 And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.
4 For Jacob my servant’s sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.
5 I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the Lord, and there is none else.
7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the Lord do all these things.
8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it.

BASIC BIBLE VERSE ISAIAH 45:1-813 December 2023
1 This is what the Lord says to his anointed,
to Cyrus, whose right hand I take hold of
to subdue nations before him
and to strip kings of their armor,
to open doors before him
so that gates will not be shut:
2 I will go before you
and will level the mountains;
I will break down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
3 I will give you hidden treasures,
riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the Lord,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
4 For the sake of Jacob my servant,
of Israel my chosen,
I summon you by name
and bestow on you a title of honor,
though you do not acknowledge me.
5 I am the Lord, and there is no other;
apart from me there is no God.
I will strengthen you,
though you have not acknowledged me,
6 so that from the rising of the sun
to the place of its setting
people may know there is none besides me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other.
7 I form the light and create darkness,
I bring prosperity and create disaster;
I, the Lord, do all these things.
8 “You heavens above, rain down my righteousness;
let the clouds shower it down.
Let the earth open wide,
let salvation spring up,
let righteousness flourish with it;
I, the Lord, have created it.
In this passage from Isaiah, the prophet speaks of God’s proclamation to Cyrus, the Persian king, whom God anoints and empowers to accomplish His purposes. God declares His sovereignty over nations and His ability to open doors and break down barriers before Cyrus. Despite Cyrus not acknowledging God, the Lord promises to guide and strengthen him for the sake of His chosen people, Israel.
The passage emphasizes monotheism, affirming that there is only one true God, and He alone holds authority over all creation. It also underscores God’s control over both good and challenging circumstances, demonstrating His ultimate sovereignty. Additionally, the passage speaks of God’s desire for righteousness and salvation to prevail on earth.
Overall, Isaiah 45:1-8 reveals God’s supremacy, His ability to use even secular rulers to accomplish His divine purposes, and His desire for righteousness and salvation to flourish among His people.
