BASIC SCRIPTURE 24 February 2025 PRAYER & DECLARATION
BASIC SCRIPTURE: MARK 5: 9-20
Passage:
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountains a great herd of swine feeding.
12 And all the devils besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them.
13 And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the devil, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid.
16 And they that saw it told them how it befell to him that was possessed with the devil, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he was come into the ship, he that had been possessed with the devil prayed him that he might be with him.
19 Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him: and all men did marvel.
PRAYER FOR MARK 5:9-20
Opening Prayer:
Heavenly Father, we thank You for the power of Your Son, Jesus Christ, who has authority over every force of darkness. We ask for the courage to confront spiritual battles with faith, knowing that You are greater than any obstacle we face. Help us to share the good news of Your deliverance and compassion with others, just as the man freed from demonic possession did. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
DECLARATIONS BASED ON MARK 5:9-20
- Declaration of Authority Over Evil:
I declare that Jesus Christ has ultimate authority over all powers of darkness. No matter the situation or struggle, His power is sufficient to bring deliverance and freedom. - Declaration of Transformation:
I declare that just as the man possessed by demons was transformed into one who was “sitting, clothed, and in his right mind,” so too will I experience complete restoration in every area of my life through the work of Jesus. - Declaration of Compassion:
I declare that God’s compassion is available to everyone, regardless of their past or present circumstances. He cares deeply for each person and desires to set them free from anything that binds them. - Declaration of Testimony:
I declare that I will boldly share the story of what Jesus has done in my life, just as the man in Decapolis testified to the greatness of God. My words will inspire others to seek Him and find salvation. - Declaration of Faithful Obedience:
I declare that I will obey Jesus’ instructions, whether it means staying close to Him or going out to serve others. Wherever He leads, I will follow, trusting that His plan is perfect.
REFLECTION QUESTIONS:
- How can I apply the truth of Jesus’ authority over evil to my own life or the challenges I face?
- In what ways has Jesus brought transformation to my life, and how can I express gratitude for His work?
- Who in my circle of influence needs to hear about the power and compassion of Jesus? How can I share my testimony effectively?
- How can I balance the desire to be near Jesus with the call to serve others in His name?
Let us draw strength from this passage and commit ourselves to living as witnesses of Christ’s power and compassion. Amen.
