BASIC SCRIPTURE TODAY 6 March 2024
BASIC SCRIPTURE: ACTS 3: 1-11
3 Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
9 And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
10 And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
11 And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.

Acts 3:1-11 (NIV)
“1 One day Peter and John were going up to the temple at the time of prayer—at three in the afternoon. 2 Now a man who was lame from birth was being carried to the temple gate called Beautiful, where he was put every day to beg from those going into the temple courts. 3 When he saw Peter and John about to enter, he asked them for money. 4 Peter looked straight at him, as did John. Then Peter said, ‘Look at us!’ 5 So the man gave them his attention, expecting to get something from them.
6 Then Peter said, ‘Silver or gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.’ 7 Taking him by the right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man’s feet and ankles became strong. 8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went with them into the temple courts, walking and jumping, and praising God. 9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God, 10 they recognized him as the same man who used to sit begging at the temple gate called Beautiful, and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
11 While the man held on to Peter and John, all the people were astonished and came running to them in the place called Solomon’s Colonnade.”
Encouragement for Today: This passage from Acts 3 is a powerful testimony of the miraculous healing that took place through the name of Jesus Christ. It reminds us that, despite our limitations and challenges, there is hope and healing in the name of Jesus. Just as Peter and John had something greater to offer than material wealth, we, too, can find strength and purpose in the name of Jesus.
Today, let this story encourage you to look to Jesus for the strength you need. Like the man who was lame, you may not receive what you initially expect, but the Lord has the power to bring transformation and joy into your life. Trust in His provision, and remember that, in Jesus, there is the power to overcome obstacles and experience the fullness of life.
As you face your day, may you be filled with the assurance that, in the name of Jesus Christ, there is healing, hope, and a path forward. Let your heart be open to the unexpected ways God may work in your life, and may you, like the man in the story, find yourself walking, leaping, and praising God.
