In this verse from the book of Hebrews, the author encourages believers to progress beyond the foundational teachings about Christ. The emphasis is on spiritual maturity, urging believers to deepen their understanding and practice of faith, moving beyond basic doctrines and embracing a more profound understanding of Christian principles.

Philippians 3:9-14 (NIV): “And be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”

In this passage from Philippians, the Apostle Paul reflects on the importance of righteousness through faith in Christ rather than relying on one’s adherence to the law. He expresses his deep desire to intimately know Christ, to share in His sufferings, and to be transformed in His likeness. Paul acknowledges that he has not reached perfection but strives toward the goal set by Christ, letting go of past achievements or failures and focusing on moving forward to attain the heavenly prize through Christ.

These verses stress the importance of spiritual growth, maturity in faith, and a continuous pursuit of knowing Christ more intimately, emphasizing the transformational power of faith in Christ Jesus.
