BASIC SCRIPTURES: Daily Manna 7 November 2023

Exodus 14:14 (NIV): “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Psalm 20:1-7 (NIV): 1 May the Lord answer you when you are in distress; may the name of the God of Jacob protect you. 2 May he send you help from the sanctuary and grant you support from Zion. 3 May he remember all your sacrifices and accept your burnt offerings. 4 May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. 5 May we shout for joy over your victory and lift up our banners in the name of our God. May the Lord grant all your requests. 6 Now this I know: The Lord gives victory to his anointed. He answers him from his heavenly sanctuary with the victorious power of his right hand. 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.

Bible lessons from these passages:

  1. Exodus 14:14 – Trusting in God’s Power: The verse from Exodus teaches us about trusting in God’s strength and intervention in times of trouble. It emphasizes the importance of being still and having faith in God’s ability to fight our battles. It’s a lesson in patience, trust, and reliance on God’s sovereignty in challenging situations.
  2. Psalm 20:1-7 – Seeking God’s Protection and Victory: This Psalm provides a model for prayer and supplication. It teaches us to lift our petitions to God when in distress and to seek His protection. It also acknowledges God’s ability to grant victory and success. The Psalm encourages us to put our trust in God rather than in earthly strength or resources.

Lessons to be learned:

  • Trust and Patience: Both passages emphasize trust in God’s power and the importance of waiting on Him. They remind us that in difficult circumstances, we should be patient and trust that God will fight on our behalf.
  • Seeking God’s Intervention: Both Exodus and Psalm 20 encourage seeking God’s help in times of distress and relying on His intervention and protection.
  • Not Trusting in Human Strength Alone: Psalm 20 highlights the danger of relying solely on human means or resources for success. Instead, it advocates trusting in God as the ultimate source of victory and deliverance.

Overall, these passages teach us about the importance of trust, patience, and seeking God’s intervention in all aspects of our lives, particularly in times of distress or difficulty. They emphasize that our ultimate reliance should be on God’s power and providence.
